Upon opening the box, you’ll notice a few different components. The four most important things are:
In addition to the mentioned items, there are some stickers and other things, but these can all be set to the side.
You may want to keep some of the box and packaging for storage as well, but this is up to you.
In order to maneuver across the screens, you’ll want to use the left and right buttons to scroll. To confirm a menu option, click both in at the same time. This can be confusing at first and takes some getting used to.
After unboxing, you’ll want to plug in your Ledger Nano X using the cable provided. The Ledger Nano X is supported by all major operating systems.
Once plugged in, you should see something similar to this screen.
Click the right button and you’ll see the screen below.
Double click the buttons to set up the device. From here, you’ll be asked to create a 4-8 digit PIN code. This PIN Code is your wallets first line of defense.
Once the code is created, the devices recovery phrase will be shown. This is arguably the most important part of the setup process. The device is going to display 24 words that are specific to your wallet.

Never ever show this to anyone, as this is all they would need to access your funds. This recovery phrase sheet should be kept in a secure place.
This is my tutorial recovery phrase, so there are no funds to be stolen.
You MUST write these down, and it’s highly recommended to use the note card provided.
In the event the device is stolen, broken, or not working, YOUR sequence of words can be used to recover any funds on the wallet.
After being shown all of your keywords, you’ll be asked to confirm all 24 words. Below is an example.
Once this is finished, you have successfully set up your Ledger Nano X!
Next, you’ll need to navigate to the cryptocurrency you want to store. For the purposes of this tutorial, we will use Bitcoin. Hover over the currency of choice, and double click the buttons.
From here on out, you will be interacting with the Ledger App on your computer in addition to the Ledger Nano X. The Ledger Live App can be downloaded here. It’s completely free and available on Mac OS, Windows, IOS and Android.
Once the Ledger Live App is installed and opened on your computer, you are ready to continue.
Once the app is opened, you’ll be prompted to select the device. If you’re on this tutorial, you’ll most likely be selecting the Ledger Nano X.
Next, you’ll be taken to this screen. Answer all the questions accordingly and hit continue.
From here, you’ll be asked to enter an optional password for your computers Ledger Live Access. An extra line of defense can’t hurt, so I’d recommend making a password.
Once this step is done, you are in! From here, you can send and receive cryptocurrency! If you don’t have an account already, click the + sign in the bottom left to get started.
Select an asset to create a wallet for, in this case, we will use Bitcoin.
Click continue, and you have successfully made a wallet!
